The Good, The Bad, The Babkah

This will be a quick post about my first attempt at babkah. Let’s just say it wasn’t a complete fail but it also wasn’t a win either.

I used a recipe from Gluten Free on a Shoestring and made a few alternations. It started off great. The dough was rising and smelled delicious but once I tried to to roll it and braid it it turned into a doughy (but pretty tasty) mess.

The dough was too thick and the chocolate “sauce” was slightly bitter and too gooey.

On a high note, my kids gobbled it up and said they wanted a second slice. I’m not giving up on babkah because when done right it is not only yummy but really pretty too.

Stay tuned for a revisit of this sweet, chocolatey bread!
